About
Inspired by my parents' creativity, I began drawing in my early years an learned to observe, discovering a love for visual language an with it, music and album art. Roger Dean's 'Yes' covers were particularly influential.
I studied art through college and university, earning a First Class Honours Degree in Art and Illustration.
Based in Stockport, I work primarily in oil to build depth and atmosphere, while exploring texture and ideas through drawing, collage, charcoal, and mixed media to keep my practice evolving.
My work centres on light, memory, and a surreal, abstract realism. I start with a simple observation, shape, colour, or shadow, and let the painting unfold as a dialogue between surface, pigment, and idea. This approach combines discipline with openness, preserving realism while expanding emotional atmosphere.
I value preparation, sketches, under paintings, and colour studies, alongside spontaneous discovery. Oil is my core medium, but I regularly mix in charcoal and mixed media to keep each project fresh and responsive to its subject.
My work has been shown in galleries and collected privately; I welcome commissions and collaborations. If you'd like to learn more, view current works, or discuss a commission, you can contact me via the Contact page.
